In Columbus, Ohio, City Attorney Zach Klein said he in aware of a “few instances” where people have tried to fake the symptoms to avoid arrest, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

In one case, a suspect was spotted fleeing from a car break-in.

When police tried to take the man into custody, he claimed to have trouble breathing and began “flailing on the ground coughing,” Klein said.
